Pet of the Month-March
Flash is a 7 year old Samoyed who was clinically normal, and scheduled to have some routine dental work done in August of 2008. Pre-anesthetic blood work showed values consistent with early kidney failure. Flash’s dedicated owner immediately started fluid therapy, dietary changes, and a combination of traditional and homeopathic remedies to try and control the kidney failure. While kidney failure can rarely be cured, it can be managed, and the progression of the disease can often be slowed down. Flash’s owner has done everything possible for him, and the end result is that his blood work is currently stable, and he remains a happy energetic dog. Despite being poked endlessly with needles for months, he continues to have a wonderful personality. He even had a birthday party at the clinic recently, hosted by his generous owner. The future of any patient with kidney failure is uncertain, but with ongoing therapies, many can lead normal lives. Flash is fortunate to be receiving the best care he can get-a luxury that, quite honestly, is rare to see. We are happy that Flash is doing well, and we applaud his owner for her never ending commitment to his well being. | ||||||||||||
